The Mumbai Crime Branch’s investigation into a visa fraud ring has led to the judicial custody of two high-ranking Navy officers, Lieutenant Commander Vipin Dagar and Sub-Lieutenant Braham Jyoti. The officers, along with three other individuals, have been implicated in a scheme to procure visas fraudulently for individuals seeking employment in South Korea.
Visa Fraud Ring Uncovered
The Mumbai police have successfully dismantled a criminal network that facilitated the illegal acquisition of visas for aspiring workers in South Korea. This operation involved the illicit transportation of at least eight individuals to the East Asian nation within the past year, with two being subsequently deported back to India.
Investigation Reveals Disturbing Pattern
The investigation has further revealed a disconcerting trend involving a significant number of individuals from Suchetgarh in the Ranbir Singh Pora tehsil of Jammu district. These individuals have reportedly traveled to South Korea through similar illicit means, often with the assistance of various clandestine syndicates.
Judicial Custody for Accused Officers
Following their arrest, Lieutenant Commander Dagar, Sub-Lieutenant Jyoti, and another accused, Deepak Mehra, were presented before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Patil. The police refrained from seeking further custody, leading to the court’s decision to remand the accused individuals to judicial custody for 14 days.
Previous Arrests and Ongoing Investigation
Simran Teji and Ravi Kumar, two other alleged members of the visa fraud ring, are already in judicial custody. The Mumbai Crime Branch’s investigation into this elaborate scheme continues, with further arrests and revelations expected as the case unfolds.
