The Nothing Phone 2a Plus Plus (quite a mouthful, right?) is the latest iteration in Nothing’s quest to shake up the smartphone scene. I’ve been using it for a few weeks, and it’s safe to say it’s a head-turner – literally and figuratively.

Design & Build:

The 2a Plus Plus maintains the transparent aesthetic that Nothing is known for, and it’s just as striking as the original. The glass back reveals a glimpse of the phone’s inner workings, adding a touch of industrial chic. The aluminum frame feels solid and premium, and the phone is surprisingly comfortable to hold despite its slightly larger size.

Display:

The 6.7-inch AMOLED display is a beauty. It’s bright, vivid, and offers excellent viewing angles. Colors pop, and details are sharp, making it great for watching videos or scrolling through photos. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling and responsive gaming.

Performance:

Powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 chip and 8GB of RAM, the 2a Plus Plus handles everyday tasks with ease. Multitasking is smooth, and I haven’t experienced any lag while switching between apps. It can handle demanding games, although you might notice some occasional frame drops on the highest settings.

Camera:

The 50MP main camera captures impressive photos with plenty of detail and vibrant colors. The 12MP ultrawide camera is great for landscapes and group shots. Low-light performance is decent, thanks to the improved night mode. The 32MP front camera takes sharp selfies, and it’s surprisingly good in low light too.

Battery Life:

The 4700mAh battery easily lasts a full day with moderate use. I’ve consistently gotten around 6-7 hours of screen-on time, which is pretty good for a phone with a large display. It supports 45W fast charging, which juices it up quickly.

Software & User Experience:

Nothing OS 2.0, based on Android 13, is clean and bloat-free. The interface is intuitive and easy to navigate. The Glyph interface is still a unique feature, and it’s surprisingly useful for notifications and visual cues.

Connectivity & Additional Features:

The 2a Plus Plus has all the essentials, including 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. It’s also IP54 water and dust resistant, which is a welcome addition for peace of mind.

Buying Recommendation:

Who’s it for? Anyone who wants a unique, stylish phone with solid performance and a great display. It’s a good choice for those who prioritize design and value for money.

Pros:

  • Distinctive design
  • Gorgeous display
  • Excellent performance
  • Capable cameras
  • Clean software

Cons:

  • Glyph interface might not be for everyone
  • No headphone jack or expandable storage

Overall:

The Nothing Phone 2a Plus Plus is a fantastic mid-range phone that stands out from the crowd. It offers a unique design, a beautiful display, solid performance, and capable cameras – all at a competitive price. If you’re looking for a phone that’s different and doesn’t break the bank, the 2a Plus Plus is definitely worth considering.
