The Moto Razr+ (2024) represents a significant step forward for Motorola’s foldable phone lineup. It’s a device that captures attention with its unique design and the largest cover display on a flip phone. After spending time with it, here’s what I discovered:

Design & Build:

The Razr+ is a head-turner, both folded and unfolded. The vegan leather back feels luxurious, and the stainless steel frame adds a touch of elegance. The hinge mechanism is smooth and solid, and the phone feels remarkably thin when unfolded. The water-repellent design is a nice bonus, although it’s not fully waterproof.

Display:

The 3.6-inch pOLED cover display is the star of the show. It’s incredibly versatile, allowing you to do almost anything you can do on the main display. You can run apps, reply to messages, take photos and videos, and even play games. It’s a game-changer for flip phones. The 6.9-inch pOLED main display is equally impressive, offering vibrant colors, a 165Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support.

Performance:

Powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip and 8GB of RAM, the Razr+ delivers flagship-level performance. Apps open instantly, multitasking is smooth, and demanding games run without a hitch. It’s a powerhouse that can easily handle anything you throw at it.

Camera:

The 12MP main camera performs well in good lighting, capturing detailed photos with good dynamic range. The 13MP ultrawide lens offers a wider perspective but sacrifices some image quality. Low-light performance is decent, thanks to larger pixels and night mode. The 32MP front-facing camera takes sharp selfies, and you can even use the main cameras for selfies when the phone is folded.

Battery Life:

The 3800mAh battery is not the largest, but it’s well-optimized for a foldable phone. With moderate use, it can last a full day. However, heavy users might need to top it up before bedtime. The 30W wired charging is fast enough, but there’s no wireless charging, which is a bit disappointing for a premium device.

Software & User Experience:

The Razr+ runs Android 13 with Motorola’s My UX interface. It’s a clean and near-stock Android experience with a few thoughtful additions like gesture controls and personalization options. The software is well-optimized for the foldable form factor, with apps seamlessly transitioning between the cover and main displays.

Connectivity & Additional Features:

The phone offers 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. It has stereo speakers that sound surprisingly good for a flip phone. There’s no headphone jack or expandable storage, which are trade-offs for the sleek design.

Buying Recommendation:

Who’s it for? The Moto Razr+ is for anyone who wants a stylish and innovative foldable phone with a unique user experience. It’s perfect for fashion-conscious users, early adopters, and those who want a powerful phone that’s compact when folded.

Pros:

  • Massive and versatile cover display
  • Sleek and premium design
  • Powerful flagship performance
  • Decent camera system
  • Smooth and responsive software

Cons:

  • Below-average battery life for a non-folding phone
  • No wireless charging or headphone jack
  • Crease in the main display is noticeable
  • Premium price

Overall:

The Moto Razr+ (2024) is a truly innovative foldable phone that delivers a unique and enjoyable user experience. Its large cover display is a game-changer, offering unparalleled functionality on a flip phone. While it has some drawbacks like average battery life and a noticeable crease, it’s still a compelling choice for those who want a stylish and powerful foldable phone.
