The Moto Edge 50 Fusion is a compelling option in the crowded mid-range smartphone market. It manages to pack in several premium features while keeping the price accessible. Here’s a breakdown of my experience:

Design & Build:

The Edge 50 Fusion exudes a premium feel thanks to its glass front and back, coupled with a plastic frame. It’s available in attractive color options and feels solid in the hand. However, the glossy back is prone to fingerprints and smudges. It’s slightly heavier than some competitors, but the curved edges make it comfortable to hold.

Display:

The 6.7-inch pOLED display is a delight to use. It boasts a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, making scrolling and animations feel incredibly fluid. The colors are vibrant, and the display gets sufficiently bright for outdoor use. While it doesn’t match the absolute best in terms of peak brightness, it’s more than adequate for most users.

Performance:

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 chip, paired with 8GB of RAM, ensures smooth and snappy performance. Everyday tasks, multitasking, and even demanding games run without a hitch. While not the fastest chip on the market, it handles everything you throw at it with ease.

Camera:

The 50MP primary camera captures detailed photos in good lighting conditions. It performs well in various scenarios, producing sharp and colorful images. However, low-light photography could be better, with some noise and loss of detail. The ultrawide and macro lenses offer additional versatility, but their image quality isn’t as impressive as the main sensor.

Battery Life:

The 5000mAh battery is a champ, easily lasting a full day even with heavy usage. You can comfortably get through a day of browsing, streaming, gaming, and social media without worrying about running out of juice. The 68W TurboPower charging is incredibly fast, topping up the battery in no time.

Software & User Experience:

The Edge 50 Fusion runs a near-stock version of Android 13 with Motorola’s My UX on top. It’s a clean and user-friendly interface with minimal bloatware. Motorola has added a few thoughtful touches, like gesture-based controls and personalization options. Overall, the software experience is smooth and enjoyable.

Connectivity & Additional Features:

The phone offers a solid range of connectivity options, including 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC. It’s also water-resistant (IP68), making it a good choice for those who are prone to accidental spills or splashes. There’s no headphone jack, but the phone does come with a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter in the box.

Buying Recommendation:

Who’s it for? The Moto Edge 50 Fusion is ideal for users who want a stylish and well-rounded mid-range phone with a great display, fast performance, and long-lasting battery. It’s suitable for everyday users, social media enthusiasts, and even casual gamers.

Pros:

  • Smooth 144Hz pOLED display
  • Snappy performance with Snapdragon 7 Gen 2
  • Excellent battery life with fast charging
  • Clean and user-friendly software
  • Water-resistant (IP68)

Cons:

  • Low-light camera performance could be better
  • No wireless charging
  • Glossy back is prone to fingerprints

Overall:

The Moto Edge 50 Fusion is a compelling mid-range smartphone that excels in several key areas. It offers a premium design, a fantastic display, and excellent performance for the price. While the camera could be better in low light, it’s still a capable shooter for most scenarios. If you’re looking for a stylish and reliable mid-ranger, the Moto Edge 50 Fusion is worth considering.
