The OnePlus 12R might be the “R” version of its flagship sibling, but it’s a force to be reckoned with in its own right. Packing a flagship-grade processor and a stunning display into a more budget-friendly package, this phone delivers impressive performance without emptying your wallet.

Design & Build:

The OnePlus 12R boasts a sleek and modern design with a glass back and aluminum frame. It feels substantial and well-crafted in the hand. The curved edges provide a comfortable grip, and the phone’s overall aesthetic is both minimalist and premium. The camera module blends seamlessly into the back, adding to the phone’s elegant look.

Display:

The 6.74-inch AMOLED display is a showstopper. With a 120Hz refresh rate, colors pop, animations are fluid, and scrolling feels incredibly smooth. The display gets impressively bright, making it easy to use even in direct sunlight. Whether you’re gaming, watching videos, or simply browsing the web, the OnePlus 12R’s display won’t disappoint.

Performance:

Under the hood, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, paired with up to 16GB of RAM, ensures buttery-smooth performance. Demanding games run without a hitch, multitasking is a breeze, and the phone never feels slow or sluggish. Benchmark tests confirm the 12R’s impressive performance capabilities, placing it among the top contenders in its price range.

Camera:

The 50MP main camera captures detailed images with good dynamic range and vibrant colors in well-lit conditions. The 8MP ultrawide lens offers a wider perspective for landscape shots, while the 2MP macro lens allows you to get up close and personal with tiny subjects. Low-light performance is decent, thanks to the large sensor and night mode, but don’t expect miracles.

Battery Life:

The 5000mAh battery comfortably lasts a full day, even with moderate to heavy usage. You won’t have to worry about running out of juice before bedtime. And when you do need to charge up, the 100W SuperVOOC charging gets you back to 100% in no time.

Software & User Experience:

OxygenOS 13, based on Android 13, is a clean and user-friendly interface with plenty of customization options. It’s snappy and responsive, and the added OnePlus features enhance the overall user experience. Regular software updates are expected, ensuring you stay up-to-date with the latest features and security patches.

Connectivity & Additional Features:

The OnePlus 12R supports 5G connectivity for fast internet speeds on compatible networks. You also get Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC for all your wireless needs. The in-display fingerprint scanner is quick and accurate, and the stereo speakers provide immersive audio. However, there’s no headphone jack or expandable storage, which might be a dealbreaker for some.

Buying Recommendation:

  • Who’s it for? Gamers, power users, and anyone who wants flagship-level performance without the flagship price tag.
  • Pros: Stunning display, powerful performance, good camera system, long-lasting battery, blazing-fast charging.
  • Cons: No headphone jack, no expandable storage, low-light camera performance could be better.
  • Overall: The OnePlus 12R is an excellent mid-range smartphone that delivers impressive performance, a beautiful display, and a capable camera system. If you’re looking for a phone that can handle anything you throw at it without breaking the bank, the OnePlus 12R is a great option.
