New Delhi, July 6, 2024: In a poignant ceremony today at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed posthumous Kirti Chakras upon four Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, acknowledging their extraordinary valor and sacrifice during a deadly encounter with Naxal insurgents in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on April 3, 2021.
Bijapur Ambush: A Tale of Unwavering Courage
The somber event witnessed the grieving families of Inspector Dilip Kumar Das, Head Constable Raj Kumar Yadav, and Constables Bablu Rabha and Shambhu Roy accept the prestigious medals on behalf of their fallen heroes. These bravehearts were among the 22 security personnel tragically lost in the line of duty during a harrowing six-hour gun battle and subsequent ambush.
Citing the gallantry citations, a CRPF spokesperson hailed the fallen personnel for their indomitable spirit and unwavering resolve in the face of overwhelming odds, stating that they inflicted significant casualties upon the Maoist insurgents before making the ultimate sacrifice.

In addition to the posthumous awards, President Murmu also conferred Shaurya Chakras upon two other CRPF personnel for their conspicuous gallantry in anti-Naxal and counter-terrorist operations, underscoring the unwavering commitment of India’s largest paramilitary force to safeguarding the nation’s security.
